The following interview with director Bernardo Bertolucci was recorded in Rome in 2003. In it, he discusses his relationship with his mentor, filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini, and traces the development of LA COMMARE SECCA from preproduction to its debut at the 1962 Venice Film Festival.
